WATERVLIET, N.Y. – Shaker Pointe is hosting a film premiere on October 26 as one of its residents, Pat Musick Carr, is set to make her big screen debut. Set during the middle of the Cold War, “The Artist & The Astronaut” chronicles Musick Carr’s illustrious art career along with her activism in social justice. It also tells the story of her love interest and eventual husband, pilot-turned-astronaut Jerry Carr.
“The Artist & The Astronaut” is produced by Bill Muench whose goal is to have the docufilm screened at festivals globally, achieve a theatrical release, and “educate, inspire, and capture the history, love, and excitement of this unique American couple.”
“I wonder who those guys are up there, and what they’re like,” Musick-Carr recalls thinking while watching an Apollo mission soar high above on November 16, 1973. Musick-Carr would go on to marry Jerry Carr who was a part of that mission.
