Capital Region Aquatic Center
Capital Region Aquatic Center is a planned 80,000-square-foot indoor, year-round aquatic facility to be built along Schenectady’s Mohawk Harbor that will offer community members social, cultural and recreational programming for all ages for years to come. With an Olympic size pool and dive well, the Center will also play host to dive and swim competitions that will attract thousands of visitors to the Capital Region annually.
Capital Region Aquatic Center’s board of directors recruited Baker Public Relations in the fall of 2017 to begin building awareness for the proposed complex. Our efforts included messaging, branding, website development management, social media management, video production, media relations, marketing, influencer marketing, and public affairs services. Additionally, we helped to launch a capital campaign that included advertising and community outreach to identify potential community and business partners. Baker Public Relations used its existing relationships and forged new ones to help connect the Capital Region Aquatic Center team with key stakeholders and community leaders.
While the Capital Region Aquatic Center’s board of directors works on the development of the project, Baker Public Relations has helped keep the project top of mind in the community with a social media strategy including video and print testimonials, advising the board of directors on networking events, sponsorships and traditional media opportunities. Baker Public Relations is working with major donors to the Capital Region Aquatic Center to strategically publicize their donations through photo opportunities and media events to leverage the reach of the donors with the Capital Region Aquatic Center.
Baker Public Relations has helped to significantly enhance the visibility of the project through feature and business story placements, open valuable new doors to supporters and donors and raise money for construction.
