Baker Public Relations today announced the addition of former Spectrum News Reporter Barry Wygel to its growing team as Media Strategist and Senior Account Executive.
Barry joins Baker Public Relations with six years of experience as a television news reporter and will be instrumental in furthering relationships with the media and developing stories on behalf of the firm’s clients that can be delivered across multiple platforms. His experience while at Spectrum News was broad, and earned him an Emmy nomination for his exceptional reporting of the anniversary of Tropical Storm Irene. Also, while at Spectrum News, Barry spearheaded a weekly segment called “Wygel at Work” in which he provided viewers a behind-the-scenes look at area professions and businesses.
“Baker Public Relations has experienced tremendous growth over the past twelve months. To support the increasing demand for our services, we are committed to adding talent and experience to the team that will continue to deliver the highest quality services in PR, crisis communications, social media, marketing, and public affairs,” said Baker Public Relations President & CEO Megan Baker. “We have worked with Barry in his previous role as a reporter and are proud to welcome him to our team.”
“Sharing stories is in my blood and I look forward to working with Baker Public Relations in a rewarding industry where we can help clients develop their message and tell their stories creatively to the right audience,” said Wygel. “This is an exciting time for me to join a fast-paced, challenging environment working with a collaborative team representing quality clients.”
Barry is a native of the Capital Region and graduated from SUNY Oswego with a degree in journalism with a concentration in broadcasting and double minors in history and political science. He has his pilot’s license and lives near Saratoga Lake with his wife, Carolyn.
