Baker Public Relations was brought on to assist with the re-launch of the 33 year-old Albany Marriott, the second largest hotel in the Capital Region.

The first phase of the project included the refurbishing of the exterior masonry, the installation of updated heating and air conditioning units in each room, and the installation of new drainage and plumbing. Each bathroom in the hotel’s 360 guest rooms has also been fitted with new bathtubs, showers, trim and tile imported from Italy.

The second phase of the renovation began May 2017. Each room was refreshed with new finishes, paint, carpeting, furniture, lighting, window treatments and beds. The public areas within the hotel were also renovated, including the Great Room, bar area, lobby, common areas, corridors and 16,000-square-feet of meeting space.

Baker Public Relations was retained by Albany Marriott to create public awareness of the renovations, execute a grand re-opening ribbon cutting with local dignitaries and assist with social media efforts which included strategic partnerships with local businesses and the launch of an Instagram account.

As a result, news of the renovations garnered features in both national trade publications and regional influential media such as the Times Union, Albany Business Review, BizBash, Hotel Business, Saratogian, Smart Meetings, 518 Bites and Site, The Daily Gazette, Meetings Today and more.
