Baker PR is agency of record for the Albany Capital Center, a $66.5 million modern convention center in downtown Albany managed by SMG. Pre-opening efforts included media outreach, development of marketing collateral, community awareness and planning of events centered around construction milestones in advance of the facility’s opening in March 2017. Baker PR successfully planned and executed a topping off and beam signing ceremony in July 2016 attended by nearly 100 guests including elected officials, stakeholders, community leaders, and tradesmen to mark the completion of the steel frame construction phase.

Prior to our most recent engagement, Baker PR worked with the Albany Convention Center Authority (ACCA) on a project basis from 2010 to 2013 to promote the then-proposed convention center. Baker PR obtained third party endorsements for the project, authored bylined articles on behalf of the ACCA, and unveiled a 3D model of the Center designed in partnership by two Albany High School seniors and Hamlin Design Group.

Our ongoing efforts on behalf of the Albany Capital Center have secured placements in the Trade Show News Network, Venues Today, Meetings Magazine, Successful Meetings, New York Real Estate Journal, Sports Destination Management, Venues NOW, Business View, American Sports Builders Association, Smart Meetings, The Exhibitions Newsletter, WNYT, Spectrum News, WTEN, CBS6, Times Union, The Daily Gazette, WAMC, Two Buttons Deep and the Albany Business Review. Most recently, Baker Public Relations received honorable mention by PR News for HV Gamer Con 2019, a two-day collegiate gaming expo and tournament our team branded and helped to promote at the Albany Capital Center.

The Albany Capital Center, combined with the Empire State Plaza, The Egg, and Times Union Center forms the Capital Complex, the largest meeting and exhibition venue in upstate New York offering more than 159,000 square feet of event space.
