Albany, NY – The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) upstate NY/VT Chapter announced last night that Courtney Gettings and Adam Neary were awarded as the region’s Man and Woman of the Year (MWOY). The two winners were announced at a Grand Finale event held at the Albany Capital Center.
Neary, principal at Wealth One LLC, broke a record for the regional MWOY competition, totaling over $1 Million raised during the 10-week campaign.
Gettings, who leads the Gettings Home Team at Keller Williams Capital District, raised over $40,000 during the 10-week campaign.
Gettings and Neary were among six local finalists, three men and three women, vying for the award. All six finalists established teams that have been raising funds over the past ten weeks, bringing in a combined total amount of $1,318,484.21 for LLS.
Money raised throughout the spirited competition will support LLS in its mission to fund lifesaving research, advance medical treatment and compassionate care, and ultimately, cure blood cancers.
“I want to say thank you to all of my team members who were available for meetings very early in the day but also late in the evening,” said Neary. “When we agreed to this, we knew how much work it would take so thank you for all of your support.”
Another MWOY finalist, Mohawk Honda General Manager Greg Johnson, was awarded the Community Award for his dedication to promoting the mission of LLS.
“Giving back to our community and helping to raise funds and awareness for this great cause is what it is all about,” said Johnson. “It was an honor to be a part of this campaign and spread the word about the incredible research that LLS funds with the support of all who are involved.”
“These passionate competitors, both our two winners and our four runners-up, are invaluable to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s relentless pursuit of a world without blood cancers,” said Rick Ostroff, LLS Upstate NY/VT Chapter board chair during the event.
Gettings and Neary now advance to a final round of competition, where they will vie for the title of National Man and Woman of the Year. National title winners will be announced later this year.
