Baker Public Relations was engaged by Troy-based Old Daley Custom Catering Company to assist with the promotion of the opening of their latest hospitality venture, Daley’s on Yates in downtown Schenectady. The work of passion for owners Gene Coletti, Jim Pettit/CFO and Marty Keary, Daley’s on Yates was the team’s first full service restaurant since the original Old Daley Inn in Lansingburgh was sold in 2001. The brand has served the greater Capital Region for over 40 years and is synonymous with excellent food, service and value. Alongside Old Daley on Crooked Lake, this fresh new concept in downtown Schenectady features quality comfort food and specialty cocktails in an inviting, unexpected space.
For this launch, Baker Public Relations executed The Baker Bundle, a mini public relations campaign, strategically tailored to meet specific, short-term PR needs, ideal for any restaurant opening. As we geared up for the launch, lining up media placements to announce this exciting property was being added to the Schenectady dining scene, the team ran into construction delays, pushing back the launch. With these unanticipated postponements, Baker Public Relations shifted gears to keep the buzz in the media going while the Daley’s team forged ahead on construction. Since the restaurant space was not ready to be used, a blogger preview dinner was organized with online influencers at one of the team’s catering locations. Pieces from the preview trickled out following the dinner keeping the opening still top of mind. Long lead pitching was also taking place to time media hits to the new opening date. Monthly social media calendars were also drafted and executed by the Baker PR team to keep their audience in the loop on construction updates and other notable news items as well as menu and image previews of the food and space.
Once the construction timeline was back on track, a ribbon cutting ceremony was planned and executed with local dignitaries garnering heavy media attention with both regional print and TV media. Other key pieces continued to come out on the restaurant post opening including a video with Discover Schenectady which showed the full impressive scope of the menu. Since opening, Daley’s on Yates continues to thrive as one of the Capital Region’s most popular restaurants.
