SCHENECTADY, N.Y.—The team behind Old Daley Custom Catering will open a new restaurant and bar in downtown Schenectady next week, upon completion of the overhaul of an old taxi garage on Yates Street. In a convenient, walkable location between Union Street and Liberty Street, Daley’s on Yates, located at 10 Yates Street, will feature a menu that is both approachable and inclusive with something for everyone, as well as a variety of drinks, specialty cocktails and a diverse wine list. Executive Chef Elliott Vogel, winner of the 2017 Rising Star Chef Awards hosted through the Albany Chefs’ Food & Wine Festival, will offer renditions of classic staples and cross-cultural “gourmet comfort” dishes to entice a wide range of palates.
Daley’s on Yates is the latest hospitality venture by the acclaimed Troy-based Old Daley Custom Catering Company. Having served the greater Capital Region for more than 40 years, the Old Daley brand is synonymous with excellent food, service and value. A work of passion for Old Daley owners Gene Coletti, Jim Pettit (CFO), Marty Keary and the Old Daley management team, Daley’s on Yates is a culmination of all that they love most about the dining experience.
“We’re bringing the same great food and welcoming, attentive service you’ve grown to expect from the Old Daley name, in a modern space which will make you want to have a seat and stay awhile,” said Pettit. “We couldn’t be more thrilled to launch a new business in a great community, and are excited about this next phase.”
Executive Chef Vogel, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America at Hyde Park, will deliver a diverse menu infused with a variety of sauces and refined techniques, crafted into comforting dishes ranging from sharable plates and pizzas to steaks & chops and signature Daley’s entrees. Later this summer, Daley’s on Yates will offer a full Sunday brunch menu complete with specialty cocktails.
As for the space, the old taxi garage had been out of use for years, a fact that did not go unnoticed by the Old Daley team who jumped at the chance to revitalize and further grow downtown Schenectady’s business and restaurant district. Fully-functioning garage doors pay homage to the building’s former life, and open out onto a tree-adorned patio with casual seating, cozy lighting and fire pits.
Conveniently located and within easy walking distance of Proctors Theatre, Bow Tie Cinemas, local businesses and Union College, Daley’s on Yates is far more than a place to grab a drink or a bite to eat, inviting guests to get comfortable and socialize in a thoughtfully-designed urban atmosphere.
